📌 Where do I even start learning accessibility? with Kaz Baig
Web accessibility can be pretty hard to get right. It feels like there’s a lot to know just to get started, and it’s often unclear when you can confidently call your component or interaction accessible.
In this talk, we’ll tour the path to becoming proficient at web accessibility. We’ll review what accessibility entails and why it’s important (hint: there are more reasons than you might think!). You’ll discover essential resources to help you get up to speed quickly, along with the tools of the trade. By the end of the talk, you should have a toolbelt of practical tips, techniques, and code examples that you can immediately apply to your applications.

    • @Bitovi
      @Bitovi 21 день тому

      Hey @JocaBosta. This action focuses on deployment activity rather than build. That said, it is possible to build and deploy in one shot. The documentation says the build_command input specifies the command to run after the install_command for the build; the default is npm run build-storybook. We suggest reviewing that input in particular, as it may just be that you need to specialize your build command. Alternatively, the path input may need to be overwritten. Of course, if you still run into a specific issue, let us know about it on Discord - discord.gg/tw2kTV3vtQ

    I am working on an old website built with JQuery. Now they want me to integrate new features but I do not want to work on JQuery anymore. I am thinking of using React but i do not want to rewrite the whole website to React. What I thought is I maybe i can use React and convert it to web components. I am currently lost and I dont know if thiw will work. I will just add some widgets that display data from an external API, so maybe I can create web component for that with React? And also I cannot see example anywhere how to use your created web component(via r2wc) into a separate website project.

    • @Bitovi
      @Bitovi 7 місяців тому

      Hey Alex! These are great questions. We have a home page for R2WC that might help. www.bitovi.com/open-source/react-to-web-component I will flag this question for our react-to-web-component team and follow up shortly. You can also join our Discord - discord.gg/3Ed9C7wszj - that way, you can share your code, and we'll be able to better assist.

      Alright, one of our great frontend devs gave me a quick answer. It's a good idea to convert things to Web Components, but it's not ideal to use React for new Web Components when you don’t have existing React code. React is the least Web Components-friendly framework, and R2WC exists to entice React developers to get into Web Components by bridging the chasm that React has created between WC and its own silo. If you like using JSX to define your views, give Stencil a look. Angular is also a possibility and has lots of enthusiasts here. Lit and Svelte are also work a look. And if you have more questions, connect with us on Discord!

    Interesting. I'm working on a demo app and was running into errors because my impression was that the signaling is a symmetrical process between both peers. Based on the diagrams shown here, it is not. There is an initiator of the connection and a receiver and both parties do things differently depending on which role they play. Thanks for the pictures, that really helps.

      Hey @diegoalcade8530, You could use any of the defaults connections methods present here. (docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/UserGuide/ec2-instance-connect-methods.html) If you don't have but want or need the ssh keys, you create a secret in AWS Secret Manager by setting up the option create_keypair_sm_entry to true. So awesome this exists, can't wait to watch these in full! I'm learning Angular, and want to seek employment using it in the next year. Got a lot to learn, but hungry to do so. Even if there isn't much point to using angular to make a game, it seems like a fun/engaging/challenging endeavor that will leave you knowing the ins and outs of the framework that much better. Only been using Angular for a week and it's pretty overwhelming, but seeing all the jobs available using it in my area (as well as Angular being fully featured) has me set this is the route I want to take!

    • @Bitovi

      Hi there! Thanks for your comment. To deploy a microservice into a microservice mesh, a “deployment” would need to be created per microservice. Mutilple microservice deployments can share a single Github Workflow, or alternatively you could create a Github Workflow per microservice. I tried following this, but using typescript. Had a bad experience...

      Hey Pedro! So sorry you had a tough go of it with TypeScript. Full Typescript support is in the works, but for now you still need PropTypes with Typescript as the R2WC library is using the PropTypes definition to map web component attributes to React props. If you add this file into the mix - github.com/rjspencer/r2wc-checklist/blob/main/src/index.tsx - you should be set. We should have included the TypeScript index file into the description earlier, thanks for pointing that out! Let us know if this works. Very good content! I just created a modal window web component and will probably never be writing another modal window functionality ever again. This is so practical and effective!

      Heck yes, we're glad this was helpful. Building out a modal window is a perfect use case for web components.

    Like the memorization decorator. I never had a use case to ask server to transform text. Do you think is it a good idea to apply the transformation before it was rendered by ngfor?
